Welcome! We are so excited to celebrate our wedding with all of our favorite people at beautiful La Jolla Cove in San Diego, California on Saturday October 10, 2026 (holiday weekend). Formal invites will be mailed in July. Thank you for being part of our story. We hope you will join us! For guests needing accommodations, we’ve secured discounted rates at two La Jolla hotels: Inn by the Sea La Jolla – A charming boutique inn with ocean views and walking-distance access to the wedding festivities. San Diego Marriott La Jolla – Comfortable, modern rooms within 20 minutes driving distance (5 miles) of the venue. Please see the Hotels page of this website for booking info, car rentals, maps, and other helpful details to make your weekend as seamless and enjoyable as possible. Travel &amp; Parking Note: The La Jolla Art &amp; Wine Festival will be taking place the same weekend as the wedding, and parking throughout La Jolla is expected to be limited. Our venues do not have designated parking, so we recommend utilizing Uber or Lyft whenever possible. Our Wedding

Our Story

Sarah and Jake first met in 2022, shortly after Jake returned from his first deployment in Korea and while Sarah was attending Point Loma Nazarene University and working part time at Peet’s Coffee. Their first interaction was simple—Sarah took Jake’s coffee order—but it marked the beginning of something special. Jake soon became a regular. Over the course of several months, they slowly learned about one another between coffee orders and busy shifts. Eventually, Jake asked “the most beautiful girl he has ever seen” for her number, but she declined—she was in a relationship at the time. Undeterred (or perhaps unwilling to buy his own coffee machine), Jake kept coming back, continuing to order coffee from his favorite barista. He accepted her response, even if he hoped the timing might one day change. As time passed, both Sarah and Jake found themselves single. Jake felt enamored by her sweet personality, the way she lit up the room, and the small conversations she would have with every person who walked through the door. Sarah, in turn, was drawn to Jake’s charm, confidence, and kindness. She would get butterflies in her stomach seeing him walk into the shop. She began going out of her way to take his order whenever she could, and adding latte art hearts beneath the lid of his drink, never thinking he would notice, just wanting to make it extra special for him. He did in fact notice. He noticed everything – her eyes, her smile, the way she went out of her way to make people feel special, even the subtle shifts in her work schedule. But after asking once, he didn’t want to pressure her or risk losing the small moments that would make his day, so he waited. His coworkers would tease him about his crush whenever he walked into work with a Peet’s Coffee cup. She finally decided to pursue her crush, and asked if he still wanted her number. To which he responded “Hell yeah I do!”. Their first date came just two days later. He took her for brunch at Sugar &amp; Scribe in La Jolla, with plans to surf at Scripps Beach afterward. Brunch and surfing turned into lunch, a visit to a surf shop, and Jake fixing an old ding on Sarah’s surfboard. Ten hours passed without either of them wanting the day to end. From that moment on, the two have been inseparable—even during times when thousands of miles stood between them. They’ve carried their shared loves of surfing, hiking, cooking, card games, reading, photography, music, and more with them as they’ve traveled throughout the United States, explored national parks, and journeyed across the world. In March of 2025, Jake proposed to Sarah at Acadia National Park in Maine. That June, they moved to Spain together, and shortly after, they learned they would soon welcome their first child. Their son, Oliver Troy Hinds, was born in February 2026.

Inn by the Sea is a charming boutique hotel located in the heart of La Jolla Village, just 0.5 miles from our venue and two blocks from the ocean. All rooms feature a balcony or patio, and the hotel offers free Wi-Fi, complimentary coffee and tea, and an outdoor heated pool. They are currently undergoing indoor and outdoor renovations that will be complete before the wedding weekend. We have secured a wedding room block for the weekend of October 10, 2026. The special rates are: $199/night (Standard Room) $279/night (Ocean View Room – limited availability) Discounted parking: $10/day for guests in the wedding block (normally $20/day) The wedding rate is available for single nights or longer stays on either side of the wedding weekend. Rooms are limited and the hotel expects to sell out, so we recommend booking early. Unused rooms in the block will be released August 28, 2026. The San Diego Marriott La Jolla is a full-service hotel located near Westfield UTC mall, about 5 miles (20 minutes by car) from our venue. Amenities include an outdoor pool, fitness center, on-site dining, and pet-friendly rooms. Our venues do not have dedicated parking, and public parking is expected to fill quickly due to the concurrent La Jolla Art &amp; Wine Festival and holiday weekend. We recommend using Uber or Lyft whenever possible. For guests driving, please note that Girard Avenue will be closed for the festival. We recommend finding public parking garages on Fay Avenue (see details below). Parking spaces can be reserved in advance or on the day of using the app <a href="https://apps.apple.com/app/id409340361" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Parkopedia</a>. For your convenience, complimentary shuttle service to the ceremony will depart from Inn by the Sea at 3:45 PM.

Will there be an open bar?

What's the weather like?

Mid-October in La Jolla is typically warm and sunny. Daytime temperatures are usually in the mid-70s. Cooler temperatures in the low-60s later in the evening are possible, so a light layer is recommended.

What time should I arrive?

Please plan to arrive no later than 4:00 PM. Music begins at 4:00 PM and the ceremony will begin promptly at 4:30 PM.

Is transportation available?

Yes! Shuttle service will be available from Inn by the Sea to the ceremony and from the ceremony to the reception. Transportation after the reception will not be provided.

Can I use the shuttle if I’m not staying at Inn by the Sea?

Absolutely. The shuttle is open to all guests of the wedding. 

Where are you registered?

We are registered with Amazon, and all registry gifts will be shipped directly to us in Spain.

When should I RSVP by?

Please submit your RSVP by August 31. If you’re unable to respond by then for any reason, please let Sarah or Jake know.
